OK so it might seem like a weird question to ask but most people do wash everyday day right. Some even twice or more. So we take care of our bodies we even brush our teeth twice a day. But do we do anything to clean our minds?
Imagine the brain is like a sponge and soaks up all the information from your day. Every interaction, your whole journey to work. Every thought you have and more! It's all recorded and saved somewhere. Now imagine that everyday. Some days there will be even more happening in your life that your brain has to deal with. Many different emotions that you experience. But what do we do to help it? Do you clean it of all that it's collected?
So my thinking is what if we cleaned our brain everyday just like our bodies so that all these thoughts and feelings didn't pile up and get on top of us. We all know what stress feels like. And I believe to avoid that we need to let go of things daily and have some time to just be. You might want to sit in your garden with a glass of wateva. Or have a place you like to go to that you could make your daily routine to have that time to think or just release it all.

The way I do this is through meditation. I feel like it really helps me to relax and be calm no matter what's going on. A lot of people tell me they can't meditate because they think too much but trust me anyone can! It's not about not having thoughts it's about just sitting and breathing. If you concentrate on the breathing in, then hold for a second or two, then breath out slowly continuously you will start to feel relaxed. Thoughts will most likely pop into you head and you might even go off thinking of what you have to do tomorrow etc but when you notice you've gone off track just start focusing on your breathing again. You don't need to be cross with yourself just notice the thoughts your having and refocus. Sometimes the thoughts I get are ideas or inspiration so I thank them for coming to me and say I will remember this then go back to my breathing.

Now I'm no expert I'm just sharing some of what I've learnt so far about meditation. You may go off thinking many times and come back and that's OK because like I said your brain is a muscle and you are training it. You can start small by just doing 2 mins a day. You don't have to have fancy music of anything but if you want to there's so many on YouTube. You can even have ones that guide you if you find a voice to listen to helps.
I've been meditating for about 4 years or so but this year I've been consecutive an meditated almost every day at least once. I found my mind wondered so much when I first started that guided meditations were all I used. I'd recommend skipping through a little before you get settled incase you don't like it.

Since meditating I've felt a lit more focused during the day and a lot happier. I look forward to my time, I only do 10 to 15 minutes each time but it feels great to just let go of my day. I feel like I've done a workout on my brain and now I just use music. I find I can focus for a lot longer without my thoughts wondering and have seen some truly amazing things. I've had some great ideas and its really helped me especially in times where I've felt stressed and even so annoyed I don't want to do it. But then I do and I feel so much better, so much lighter!
I really urge you to try it! It's for everyone it helps with so much, even athletes use meditation and visualisation to become better at what they do. If your conscious about training your body just remember your mind is part of it. It's a known fact we only use a small portion of our brain. So why not at least use that to it's full capacity?
